What We Believe

Carrick Free Baptist Church - Declaration of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old & New Testaments are the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the only rule of Faith and practice.

God

We believe there is only one living and true God, and that in the Godhead there are three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are equal in nature, power and glory.

Christ

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the promised Messiah, the eternal Son of God, made true man, without sin, who died in the place of sinners, rose again, returned to heaven, and will come again at the end of the world to judge the living and the dead.

Man

We believe that all men are the posterity of Adam and fell in him, so that we are born spiritually dead and under condemnation, and unless regenerated by the Holy Spirit will be lost in eternal punishment.

Salvation

We believe that the unregenerate man is unable to keep God's moral law or to do anything to save himself, and that the Lord Jesus Christ bore the punishment due to sinners when He died on the cross, and that all and only those who repent of and forsake sin and believe on Him are saved from sin and condemnation and will ultimately be admitted to heaven and that the work of salvation is wholly the action of the Holy Spirit and due entirely to the grace of God.

Christian Duties

We believe it is the duty of all saved persons to be baptised by total immersion in water upon profession of faith, to join the membership of a local church, to remember the Lord in the breaking of bread, to live in  obedience to God's Word and to witness to Christ.

(Carrick Free Baptist Church ascribes to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith as a subordinate authority to the Scriptures.  See Articles.)
